A Parish of the Archdiocese of St Andrews & Edinburgh
PARISH LIFE
CEILIDHS & FUNDRAISERS
Throughout the year, we host a few social events for the purpose of building parish community and fundraising for future projects. Past events have included ceilidhs, quiz nights, race nights, and a Burns Night!
PILGRIMAGES
Every couple of years, we try to do a major parish pilgrimage to holy sites of the Christian Faith. Past locations have included Rome, the Holy Land, and Salamanca [Unfortunately, this was cancelled due to lockdown].
LEGION OF MARY
In addition to weekly meetings members commit to a specific apostolic task each week always working as a team or in pairs, so that the Person of Jesus is once again seen and served by Mary his Mother.
In St Andrews, apostolic work includes a weekly rosary group in Greyfriars school, monthly public rosary, cemetery visits, Communion visits, home visits, book barrow, and ‘door to door’ faith sharing. Apostolic work can be challenging but members witness to the tremendous results in their own lives and in the lives of others.
Membership is usually by application. There is a 3 month probationary period and full PVG disclosure will be needed.
VOLUNTEERS
Our Parish is supported by a number of parishioners, many working away in the background, who ensure the smooth running of the Parish and enhance its liturgy. If you would like to support the Parish by becoming a church cleaner, altar server, passkeeper, reader or choir member, please contact the Parish Office:
